February 15, 2011 Board Meeting Agenda Item #12 Title APPROVAL OF THE CHINESE GUEST TEACHER GRANT PROPOSAL TO THE COLLEGE BOARD CHINESE GUEST TEACHER PROGRAM FOR THE CURRICULUM DEPARTMENT Description COMPETITIVE:   Grant funds of $52,000 per year will allow the Curriculum department to provide Mandarin Chinese to Brookside Middle IB, Sarasota Middle Gifted, Phillippi Shores IB, Riverview HS and Suncoast Polytechnical to provide high quality educational programs.  This will promote international exchange between the U.S. and China.  An experienced language teacher from China is provided for a period of one to three years.  Recommendation That the School Board of Sarasota County approve the Chinese Guest Teacher grant proposal.
